RIVA - Riyadh Vazhikkadavu Expatriates Association is formed in 29th February 2008, for the well- being of Vazhikkadavu natives those who are working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The main objectives of Riva are to support and promote personal and professional life of those expatriates and holding hands together for the needy people without any prejudices. RIVA, as a dedicated organization direct and motivate its members about different Welfare Programs by Central & State Governments of India. RIVA always maintaining healthy relation with other organizations in Riyadh and cooperating in different common social issues.
It's our proud to announce that this web-site we launched as a part of our third anniversary celebrations along with Honoring an oldest expatriate from India who stays as bachelor in Saudi Arabia for more than 35 years continuously.
Vazhikkadavu Panchayath is an agricultural village, situated at the east end of Western Ghats, Nilambur Taluk, and Malappuram District in Kerala, India. The Panchayath boundaries are; one side with State of Tamil Nadu and other sides by different Panchayath like Moothedam, Edakkara and Pothukal. Vazhikkadavu Panchayath region was included in the area of prestigious "Nilambur Kovilakom". During that period these areas were dense forests and lots of wild animals. In 1940's there was a huge migration from eastern sides due to various socio-economic problems. The migrated people, our ancestors and their strenuous effort change the sector for living.
The main income sources are agriculture and farming including coconut, rubber and dairy farming. The area has near and around three rivers that is our main source of water facility for agriculture purpose as well as other needs.
Vazhikkadavu Panchayath have different type of government, semi-government and co-operative institutions, providing tremendous services for the residing people - including government hospital and health centers. It provides great support for the middle class villagers in the Panchayath. Some of the leading banks have their branch also.
In education point of view the Panchayath have schools up to Higher Secondary level and ensuring overall growth of children, physically, mentally and academically.
The studies of Indian Geological Survey revealed that, there are some areas in the Panchayath having gold deposits; that is in Marutha. The related works about mining is still an ongoing process.
One of the inter state highways passes through Vazhikkadavu; Kozhikode - Nilambur - Ooty (CNG Road). Bus services are available to southern states of Kerala like Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The famous "Naadukani Churam" is starting from Vazhikkadavu Panchayath and connecting Kerala and Tamilnadu.
The religious and cultural festivals contributing religious harmony, cooperation and unity among the people - especially the festivals in Devi Temple Karakkodu and one of the famous Christian Churches Manimooly.
Many of Vazhikkadavu natives are working in abroad and nearly 400 people including bachelors and families are working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
